A new challenge

7 Feb

Feeling better today, got up early and did my 4 mile training run and my Best Body Bootcamp core work.  Turns out my stomach is a little out of whack so I am on some prescription strength Zantac type medicine and should be back to “normal” in no time.

Through Twitter and Best Body Bootcamp I have been following the Run to the Finish Blog. In a recent post the Spring Bootie Buster Challenge was presented. As I read what the challenge was and what was included I was ready to sign up and I did. It will be a great extra motivator as I do my half marathon training (plus a half marathon training program is included) and continue with Best Body Bootcamp. First off just for signing up I receive a pair of cool LockLaces, which I am very excited about.  Hoping they come in pink or purple so my boys don’t try to steal them from me.

The challenge is a 7 week program and works on a point system which you log into a excel worksheet which is provided. You receive points for exercise, drinking 64 oz of water, eating plenty of fruits and veggies.  I am also linked up with the other participants.  I found this great with the bootcamp because you see that your tough workout was the same as someone else’s and everyone encourages everyone else, it’s very nice.   I will also have access to some experts in the fitness and wellness industry to ask question and receive emails along the way.

I am looking at it as a way to continue with what I am doing and help me to continue to stay on track with my clean eating so I don’t keep falling off the wagon (see On and Off the Wagon post).

Not to mention there are prizes throughout, now really, who doesn’t like to win prizes!!
I am happy to have found Best Body Bootcamp and now the Run to the Finish Challenge. I enjoy working out and I like my early morning workouts at home, however I found that I would take it easy on myself and not push myself because I “felt” tired.  Also I would do strength training but since I am don’t have the correct knowledge wasn’t working all muscle groups properly (considering changing this in the next year and maybe getting certified in personal training, maybe).   So these programs are good for me because I do push myself and hold myself accountable to the rules and workouts but still get to enjoy my morning workouts at home because I am a rule follower.  The best part, I am seeing awesome results as well.

Anyone want to join me on this challenge?  I think I have one friend talked into it, I have made her my partner in crime this year for some of my crazy ideas-unbeknownst to her(hopefully we will still be friends by the end of 2013).  We can check in with each other and make sure we are staying on track.  It will be fun and get us in good shape for summer fun!!

Question of the Day:

In 20 years, my children will say…

I hope that my children will say that they always knew I loved them.  That is what I want them to know everyday of their lives, that I love them.  I love them no matter what.  They will make mistakes, they will get in trouble and it is a part of life.  I have made sure to tell them, there are times where I will get upset at something you do and you may get in trouble and I may yell but that doesn’t mean that I don’t love you.  I think that is so important for them to know.

They will have good times and great accomplishments and I will be there to cheer them on and tell them I love them.  My husband and tell them I love you multiple times a day.  I tell them I love them when they go off to school, when they go to a friends, when I am leaving to go somewhere, when I put them to bed and more.  So in 20 years if my children say I always knew that she loved me, then I will be a happy mom and I will feel like I have done my job.

In 20 years, what do you hope your children will say…

Of course I’ll be your partner in crime. There may be moments in 2013 when I question what crazy idea you talked me into this time, however when the day is over, and I’m contemplating my day, I’m always grateful for our friendship. Bring it, girlfriend!!
